Leonard F. Elliott

Leonard F. Elliott, 74, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE. He was born in Fishing Creek on April 20, 1936 and was the son of the late Freddie and Marie Travers Elliott.

He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1954. On November 6, 1954 he married the former Kay Rhodes. Mr. Elliott served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and retired in 1974 as a Tech Sgt. He served multiple tours in Vietnam and Korea and other parts of the world. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Last Chance Liquors and then Dorchester Liquor Dispensary. Mr. Elliott was on a bowling league where he and his son Mike received the Greater Eastern Shore Bowling Association Hall of Fame award. He also enjoyed fishing and eating crabs. He was a member of the American Legion Post 91, Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW and the 29th Infantry Division Association Post 88.

He is survived by his wife Kay Elliott of Cambridge, three children Margie A. Elliott of Cambridge, Mark S. Elliott and wife Bonnie of Laurel, DE and Mike L. Elliott and wife Rita of Sharptown, nine grandchildren Candace A. Campbell, Candace Tobin and husband Clay, Eric P. Masaracchia and companion Hannah Niebuhr, Jon M. Masaracchia and wife Melissa, Paul Elliott, Carol F. Elliott, Russell Elliott, David Elliott and Josh Elliott and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Elliott, Paul Elliott, Eric Masaracchia, Jon Masaracchia, Darrell Johnson, Jr. and James Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David Wooten and Rev. Richard Prahl officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
