Leonard O. Meyer, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 surrounded by his wife, four daughters, grandson Luke, granddaughter Marcibeth, sister in law and a niece. He was born in Cambridge on September 20, 1923 and was a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Eiermann Meyer.

He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1941. Mr. Meyer served four years in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a shipboard electrician, mostly in the South Pacific. He also served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Meyer worked for many years at the former Cambridge Wire Cloth, Airpax, R.J. Reynolds and retired from Wire Conveyor Belts in Easton in 1985, where he was an industrial electrician and retired as plant engineer.

After retirement one of his favorite past times was to enjoy coffee with his many friends at the Bay Country Donut Shop, where he was respected by all and often asked to pray. He was loved by young and old.

In his earlier years, he was a member of Immanuel Church of Christ and the Church of the Nazarene. Since 1981, he has been a member of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church, where he had been active as a lay leader, board member, Sunday School teacher and Evangelism Director. He also did extensive electrical work in the Family Life Center.

In 1948, he married the former Gertrude Elizabeth Schnoor, who passed away in June of 1951. By this union he is survived by two daughters, Elaine Wheatley (Charles) and Sherry Bromwell both of Cambridge. On May 21, 1966, he married the former Faye Morris and from this union, he is survived by two daughters Amy Argot (Ken) of Atlanta and Karen Hoy (Derrick) of Quantico, MD, ten grandchildren David Wheatley (Danielle), Stephen Wheatley (Sarah), Carla Todd (Jake), Matthew Bromwell (Michelle), Sarah Burton (James), Rachel and Leah Argot, Zachary Steely, Luke and Marcibeth Hoy, three great grandsons Jordan Todd, Phoenix Wheatley and Manny Wheatley, two great granddaughters Emily Todd and Wren Wheatley, two brothers Fred Meyer of Pennsylvania and Paul Meyer of Florida and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special niece Linda Harrison and a special friend Paulette Meekins. Besides his parents and his first wife, Mr. Meyer is preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Meyer.

Pallbearers will be David Wheatley, Stephen Wheatley, Larry Meyer, Scott Harrison, Keith Morris, Roger Morris, Zachary Steely and Luke Hoy.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11 am at Cambridge Wesleyan Church with Pastor Jack Diehl officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park with Military Honors. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11.
