Leonard W. Wroten also known as Lenny of Claiborne passed away on September 8, 2014 at the House of the Pines in Easton. He was 86.
He was born on February 16, 1928 in Cambridge and was the son of the late Ruby Wroten Milburn and Lester Milburn. Mr. Wroten attended schools in Cambridge. After many jobs as a truck driver, painter and a bar owner, Leonard married the love of his life Jean Willey Wroten and along with their daughter Debra moved to Ashtabula, Ohio to become a Merchant Marine working on Picken Manor Ships on Lake Erie. In later years, he retired to Claiborne, Maryland.
Mr. Wroten is survived by his two daughters Debra Harrison (Jay) of Wittman and Christine Andrews of Cambridge, a stepson Ronald Gibbs, grandchildren Amanda and Craig Louth, Crystal and Keith Andrews, Misty and TJ Willey and Corey Gibbs. Mr. Wroten also leaves behind his great grandson Kevin Detrich, whom he raised with wife Jean since he was 4 years old. He also has numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his niece Jackie DeWitt and husband Dale, who were very close as friends. Leonard will be missed by all who knew him and remember that twinkle in his eye. Mr. Wroten was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Jean, step daughter Teresa Willey and his sister Lena Cooper.
Pallbearers will be Jay Harrison, Craig Louth, Dale DeWitt, Jr. and Michael Cooper.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the St. Michaels Fire Company, 1001 S Talbot St, St. Michaels, MD 21663. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
