Lillian V. Lewis

Lillian V. Lewis, 92 of Wingate, passed away at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge on Monday, May 4, 2009. She was born at Applegarth on November 1, 1916 and was a daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Julia Ann Meekins Woodland.

She attended schools at Hoopersville. She was married to Weller R. Lewis, Sr. who passed away on March 27, 1970. She had worked as a crab picker for White & Nelson at Hoopersville and Ruark and Ashton as well as Tideland Seafood. She enjoyed playing Bingo and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had been in failing health for the past few months when she passed away at the Mallard Bay Care Center on Monday evening.

Survivors include a daughter Virginia Lee Todd, of Wingate, one son Weller R. "Will" Lewis, Jr., three granddaughters: Marlene T. Meninger and her husband John Meninger and Belinda L. Kowitski and her husband David Kowitski, Cammy Lewis all of Cambridge, one grandson Ross Lewis also of Cambridge, four great-grandchildren:, Kristen Meninger, Matthew Meninger, Aubrie Kowitski, and Corinne Kowitski; She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one sister Theresa Peoples and five brothers Hazen Woodland, Thurman Woodland, Clarence Woodland, Hallie Woodland and Raymond Woodland.

A graveside service will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at Dorchester Memorial Park with the Rev. Sharon Prahl officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Outdoor Foundation, P.O. Box 143, Church Creek, MD 21622.
