Linda S. Stevens

Linda S. Stevens, 63 of Cambridge, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Wednesday March 3, 2010. She was born at Fishing Creek on May 11, 1946, and was a daughter of the late Samuel James and Gertrude Ruark Brittingham.

She attended schools in South Dorchester and graduated from South Dorchester High School in 1966. On May 5, 1967 she was married to William C. "Billy" Stevens, Sr. Some years ago she had worked for Rippons Bros Seafood, and later worked at Bumble Bee Tuna. Linda enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and playing with her dog "Comet". She had been in failing health for several years and had been a patient at Dorchester General Hospital since last Friday where she passed away on Wednesday morning.

Survivors include her husband Billy Stevens of Cambridge four sons, Ralph Stevens, Larry Stevens, and his wife Ginger Stevens, William "Chuckie" Stevens all of Cambridge and David Stevens and his wife Tracy Stevens of Dover, and one daughter Terry Shearman and her husband Todd Shearman of Easton. She is also survived by six grandchildren Erica Shearman, Ashley Shearman, Charles Shearman, Ellen Stevens, Kaitlyn Stevens and Amy Layton, two step grandchildren Faith Coleman and Sierra Coleman, two brothers in law Tim Johnson of Hurlock and Gilbert Hart of Lakesville, two sisters in law Nancy Brittingham of Cambridge and Bonnie Brittingham of Cambridge and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Cara Mae Hart and June Johnson and two brothers Lawrence S. Brittingham and Jerry Brittingham.

A funeral service will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Emanuel Johnson officiating. Interment will take place at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Vol. Fire Co., P.O. Box 23, Madison, MD 21648. Pallbearers will be Chuck Stevens, Todd Shearman, Ralph Stevens, Tim Johnson, Larry Stevens and Bryan Blann.
