Linwood E. "Lindy" Willey, Jr., 63, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. He was born in Cambridge on April 2, 1947 and was a son of the late Linwood E. "Pete" Willey and Blanche English Willey.
Mr. Willey graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1965. He was a marine mechanic, a waterman and later was a welder where he built race cars. He was also a professional race car driver in his early years. On December 17, 1993 he married the former Mary Rogers. He loved NASCAR and the Baltimore Ravens.
He is survived by his wife Mary C. Willey of Cambridge, a daughter Kristy Marie Caronna and husband Michael of Oxford, a son Frank Willey of Trappe, three step daughters Kristy Scheffenacker of Baltimore, Erin Fiore of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Susan Andrews and her husband Brandon of Millersville, four grandchildren Chandler Willey, Biagia Caronna, Andrue Caronna, Adrian Caronna and two step grandsons Christian Andrews and Ajahni Marley.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Harrell, Brandon Andrews, Michael Caronna, Bruce Burns, Douglas Rogers and Frank Willey.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dorchester County Humane Society, P.O.
