Lois J. Woodland

Lois J. Woodland, 69, of East New Market passed away at her home on Monday, September 2, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born in Wilmington, DE on February 11, 1944 and was a daughter of the late David and Lillian West Williams.

Lois was raised and adopted by her grandparent George and Ida West. She graduated from Lord Baltimore High School in Ocean View, DE. Lois also went to nursing school at Cambridge Hospital where she received her LPN. She was employed at Eastern Shore State Hospital Center, the Cambridge House and William Hill Manor. Lois retired from nursing in 2001. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Wendell S. "Smitty" Woodland, Jr., a son Michael Woodland and wife Dawn, a daughter Wendy Macer and husband Darnell all of East New Market, six grandchildren Michael Woodland, Jr., Samantha Woodland, Sydney Woodland, Trinity Woodland, Justin and Dasaiya Macer, two brothers David Williams of Clarksville, Virginia and Robert West of Willards and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and grandparents, Mrs. Woodland is preceded in death by a sister Charlotte Riley.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
