Louis T. Johnson, 77, of Centreville, VA passed away at his home on August 31, 2017 with his family by his side.  He was born in Salisbury, MD on March 14, 1940 to the late Louis Parker Johnson and Emma Christine Barcroft Johnson.

Mr. Johnson attended schools in Salisbury, and graduated from Wicomico High School in 1958.  Following high school, Mr. Johnson joined the United States Air Force, where he served for four years.  After serving in the military, he continued his love for aviation.  He became a certified flight instructor and a commercial pilot.  Mr. Johnson owned his own J-3 plane which he enjoyed flying regularly.  He also worked as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration for many years, from which he retired in 2006.  He graduated from Shephard College Shephardstown, WV with a Regents Bachelor of Arts Degree on May 21, 1993.  Mr. Johnson was a member of the Hamilton Thompson Masonic Lodge #37 of Purcellville, VA.  On June 11, 2002, Mr. Johnson married the love of his life, Virginia Dianne Ashby, with whom he spent 15 wonderful years.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Virginia Dianne Ashby, a daughter Kimberly Johnson, a son Matthew Johnson and his wife Heather, two grandchildren Lindsay Bronston and David Bronston, two brothers Phillip Johnson and his wife Rue of Salisbury, MD, and Jimmy Johnson of Salisbury, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11 AM at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the America Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD.
