Lula Elizabeth Mills, 93, of Cambridge MD, ( fondly known has MaMA or Me-Maw) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at UMSMC at Dorchester with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Rida Jones Phillips. She was born on April 8, 1922 in Crapo, MD, where she lived until 12 years of age. She then moved to Church Creek, MD where she lived until the death of her husband Thomas Herbert Mills whom she married on August 10, 1940. They spent 48 years together until he passed away on June 16, 1988. He was the love of her life.
She was a homemaker and also worked with her husband raising poultry. She enjoyed baking, making quilts and crocheting for her family and friends. She was a long standing member of the Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her son Ronald Mills and wife Sandy of Stevensville, MD, five grandchildren Jackie Conn, Tammy Rue, Allen Mills, Patti Ann Mills and Rhonda Mills, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and special nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Mills Macindoe as well as seven brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Buzz Phillips, Greg Rue, Chris Whaley, Kyle White, Calvin Yelverton, Brandon Manley, and Ethan Linder.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 1 p.m. at CambridgeWesleyan Church with Pastor Jack Diehl and Pastor Scott Conn officiating. Intermentwill follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends, Wednesday evening January 27, 2016 from 6 to 8pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge and one hour prior to the service at the Wesleyan church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cambridge Wesleyan Church, 1103 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
