M. Louise Delaha

M. Louise Delaha, 87, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Hoopers Island on June 29, 1924 to the late Oscar and Lucy Creighton Jenkins.

She grew up in Hoopers Island. She married the late James Delaha on January 24, 1945. He passed away on November 11, 1975. They moved to Cambridge in 1964. Mrs. Delaha enjoyed dancing, crocheting, bingo, cooking, baking pies and loved to be around people. She was a member of the VFW, American Legion, the Hoopers Island Volunteer Fire Company, and the Hoosier Memorial Church in Hoopers Island.

She is survived by her daughter Karen L. Abbott and husband Steve of Linkwood, two grandchildren, Kim Yaap and husband Stewart of Cambridge and Kris Elzey of Cambridge, seven great grandchildren, Nick, Katie, Tyler, Carrigan, Shylo, Kaya, and Zoe, and her wonderful cat Pumpkin.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mallard Bay Care Center, c/o Activities Department, 520 Glenburn Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Kitty City Rescue, P.O. Box 1259, Cambridge, Maryland 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
