Mabel M. Lake

Mabel M. Lake, 81, of Hurlock passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. She was born in East New Market on July 14, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Jimmy James Jones and Ida Mae Young Jones.
She attended schools in the Salem and East New Market area. On November 2, 1949, she married Percy J. Lake, Sr. who passed away on February 21, 2003. She was employed at one time with Harrington Seafood in Secretary and later at Buddy Harrison Seafood in Tilghman. She was a member of National Church God in East New Market.
She is survived by three daughters Vandoria O. Lake of Oklahoma, Patty M. Lake and her friend (Kenneth Bright) of Madison, Sherlmaine I. Jenkins (Dwright) of Cordtown, five sons Tyrone Lake of Dagsboro, DE, Percy J. Lake, Jr. ( Ida Mae) of Williamsburg, Leroy H. Lake (Diane) of Salisbury, Alvin J. Lake (Pastor Wanda Lake) of Federalsburg and Preston Y. Lake of Hurlock, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a brother Waddell Jones of Baltimore, two sisters Mary Pinder of Linkwood, Geraldine Dockins of Cambridge, daughter in law Charity Lake Barnard of Georgia, a brother in law Milton Jones of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Lake is preceded in death by a sister Darlene Thompson, a son Sherwwod E. Lake, a brother Curtis Jones, two sisters Annie Mae Jones and Juanita Jones.
Pallbearers will be Milton Jones, Kenneth Bright, Percy J. Lake, Jr., Leroy Lake, Alvin Lake and Preston Lake.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at National Church of God near East New Market with Bishop William A. Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge and one hour prior to the service at the church.
