Mabel Robbins Wingate passed away Sunday night December 21st at Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge. Born on February 2, 1917, she was the daughter of Charlie and Vertie Robbins. She grew up down on Maple Dam Rd. in an area called Robbins, with four sisters Ruzzie, Dora, Madeline and Marie, all are deceased.
She married Reginald "Spot" Wingate in 1957. She was a seamstress at several sewing factories for 30 years; a floor lady at retirement in 1982 at NEB Sewing Factory. After retirement, she enjoyed gardening and she loved her flower beds. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and loved helping out on soup days.
She had four children George Lee, Kay, Bobby and Velma; Kay was deceased. She was loved dearly by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her son in law, Bobby Wheatley.
A viewing will be held for one hour starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. A graveside service with Pam Bockart will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery following the viewing.
