Mae O. Fleischman

April 14, 1916 — January 3, 2012

Mae O. Fleischman, 95, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Homestead Manor in Denton. She was born in North Wilkesboro, NC on April 14, 1916 and was a daughter of the late James F. and Martha Yates Church.

She attended schools in North Carolina. On March 5, 1938 she married William G. Fleischman. He passed away on December 31, 1989. She worked at Cambridge Tire Center with her husband for 45 years. After retiring, she went back to work as a nurse's aide at the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center for 10 years. She volunteered for 17 years at the A. Mae Thompson Shop at the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center. She enjoyed water skiing, roller skating and knitting quilts. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter Kay F. Ruark and husband Levi of Cambridge, two grandsons Steven E. Ruark and wife Susan of South Carolina and Scott Levi Ruark and wife Cathie of Baltimore, great grandsons William Joseph Ruark and Jacob Levi Ruark, three sisters Marie Cannon of Cambridge, Wilma Mason of Salisbury and Jane Elliott of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Mrs. Fleischman is preceded in death by a daughter Willa Mae Fleischman, two brothers Earl Church, J. Lake Church and two sisters Faye Phippin and Grace Owens.

Pallbearers will be Michael Parks, Mark Luthy, Mark Cannon, John Cannon, Dennis Hrusecky and Rev. George Ames. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Owens, William Owens, Terry Church, Kenneth Church, Kevin Turner and Franklin Hurley.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Paul Dieter officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
