Mamie Lee Wilkerson Rossy, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Hurlock on March 5, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Ura A. Wilkerson and Oneda Wheatley Shooks.
Mamie attended Hurlock High School. Most of her life she was a homemaker and later she worked for several business in the downtown area of Cambridge. Mamie's last employment was with Mary and Linda Wright's Beauty Salon. She enjoyed raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren and also was a doll collector.
Mamie is survived by a daughter Gloria Lee Moyd of Hurlock, four sons Johnnie C. Rossy, Jr. of Cambridge, Jack C. Rossy and wife Dee of Hurlock, R. Michael Rossy, Sr. of Cambridge and Ricky C. Rossy of Cambridge, a special grandson that she raised Eddie Mace Abbott and wife Jill of Salisbury, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, sisters and brothers Florence Bowdle of Hurlock, Art Wilkerson and wife Pat of Hurlock, Norma Todd and husband Louis of Hurlock, Willis Shooks of Hurlock, Rosie Shooks of Hurlock, Nelson Shooks and wife Nola of Pennsylvania, a special niece Lisa Boog of Hurlock and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Johnnie Rossy III, Michael Rossy, Jr., Jordan Rossy, Cody Morse, Eddie Abbott and Brandon Moyd.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd. Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
