Margaret L. Knauer, 97, of Linkwood passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was born in Bucktown on May 31, 1918 and was a daughter of the late August Frederick Knauer and Margaret Fessler Knauer.
She graduated from Cambridge High School. She was a homemaker. She married Herman E. Knauer, Sr., who passed away on April 17, 1997. Mrs. Knauer enjoyed gardening, playing Parcheesi, loved Christmas and Easter and enjoyed hiding things. She attended the First Lutheran Church in Bowie.
She is survived by four children Claude Hall, Jr. (Annola), Gordon Hall (Norma), Jesse Hall (Nancy) and Dor Ann Hall Brindamour (Donnie Borgwardt), a step son Herman Knauer, Jr. and a step daughter Barbara Bentfield, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces and other family and friends. Besides her husband, Mrs. Knauer is preceded in death by a son Frank Hall, a daughter Jo Ann Martin, four brothers Carl, Irvin, John and Walter Knauer, two sisters Edna Vickers and Emma McCollister, two nephews Lawrence and Henry Knauer. She is also preceded in death by the father of her children Claude Hall, Sr.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 12 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Doug Albert officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A second funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 12pm at the First Lutheran Church of Bowie, 12710 Duckettown Road, Laurel, MD 20719. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 to 11:45 am at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Lutheran Church of Bowie, 12710 Duckettown Road, Laurel, MD 20719. The arrangement in Bowie are by Borgwardt Funeral Home of Beltsville.
