Margaret W. "Peggy" Simmons

Margaret W. "Peggy" Simmons, 88, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Aurora Senior Living of Manokin in Princess Anne. She was born in Cambridge on December 9, 1923 to the late Howard and Louise Lake Weedon.

She graduated from Cambridge High School and she attended and graduated from Goldey Beacom College. On September 21, 1946 she married Earl B. Simmons. He passed away on December 28, 1999. Mrs. Simmons worked and retired from State of Maryland. After retirement she worked part time at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in the church office. She enjoyed writing poetry and writing short stories. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she participated in various activities. She was also a member of the Eastern Shore Writer's Association.

She is survived by two daughters Linda S. Hallowell of East New Market and Lisa S. Anderson and husband Billy of Deal Island, three grandchildren Jordan Hallowell, Kristen Anderson Thomas and husband Lance and Kyle Anderson. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Simmons is preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Weedon Kelly.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Kelly, Rick Kelly, Billy Anderson, Jordon Hallowell, Lance Thomas and Sonny Ruark.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 12 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Aurora Senior Living of Manokin, 11974 Edgehill Terrace Road, Princess Anne, MD 21853 or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, c/o Scott Daniels, Mem. Fund, 205 Maryland Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
