Margie T. Jones

Margie Todd Jones, 84 of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday May 1, 2011 at the Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge. She was born at Crocheron on January 19, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Purnell and Ophelia Pritchett Todd.

She attended schools in Cambridge, and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. After graduating she started working at Phillips Packing Co. as a clerk, and then transferred to Factory B. as a telephone operator. After working there for 13 years she started working for the Cambridge Wire Cloth Co. as an invoicing clerk, and was employed there for 14 years, until she retired at the age of 65. On February 17, 1961 she was married to Edgar W. Jones. Mr. Jones passed away on September 8, 1993. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her nephew Robert Wheatley and her grandson Ryan. Mrs. Jones had spent several months in the nursing home, and was a patient at Dorchester General Hospital where she passed away on Sunday morning.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her grandson Ryan Wheatley, who made his home with her, and her favorite nephew Robert L. Wheatley, Jr. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Eddie Todd and his wife Nancy Todd, Emerson Todd and his wife Karen Todd, Donald Todd, Laurie Willey, Lisa Eberspacher, Jay Todd, Emerson G. Todd III, Sheryl Lynn Cotton, Scott Todd, Mary Tyler, Kenny Todd, Raymond Faulkner and his wife Delores Faulkner, Shirley Mayhue, Holly Elzey and her husband Floyd Elzey, Renee Warfield and her husband Jason Warfield, Jason Gilliard and his wife Alison Gilliard, Christina Cooper and Shirley Christopher. She is also survived by two special nieces and a special nephew Katherine Dean and Joanne and Danny Gilliard and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by six sisters Lizzie Carpenter, Grace McGrath, Lottie Faulkner, Norma Lee Wheatley, Helen Eskridge and Alice Todd and five brothers William Todd, Emerson Todd, Wilson Todd, Cecil Todd,Edward Todd and George Cook Todd.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 10 at 11:00 AM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Thomas W. Hurley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Eddie Todd, Emerson Todd, Donald Todd, Danny Gilliard, Jason Gillard and Jason Warfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
