Marilyn M. Higgins, 81, of Hurlock passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born in Hills Point on April 14, 1930 and was a daughter of the late Lloyd A. "Jack" Malott and Eva Norman Malott.
She attended schools in Cambridge. On January 28, 1955 she married J. Ward Higgins, Sr. Mrs. Higgins was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, reading and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed going to Hardee's to meet with her friends weekly.
She is survived by her husband J. Ward Higgins, Sr. of Hurlock, a daughter Lyndean L. "Lenni" Higgins of Hurlock, three sons Dan L. Higgins, Sr. and wife Dawn of Hurlock, J. Ward Higgins II and wife Cindy of Hurlock and Terry J. Higgins, Sr. and wife Barbara of Hurlock, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister Treva Higgins of Town Point, a brother Mike Malott of Oregon and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Higgins is preceded in death by two sisters Della Malott, Dessa Higgins and a brother Donald Malott.
Family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2012 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. The family has requested no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
