Marilyn Mae “Feetsie” Luthy of Cambridge, Maryland died Sunday August 9, 2015 after a brief illness. Marilyn was born November 14, 1932 to Esther M. Hurley and James W. Hurley. She is preceded in death by her husband John F “Sonny” Luthy, Jr and her grandson Robert Luthy. She is survived by her six children: John “Jock” Luthy III (Debbie), Mark Luthy (Diann), Ernest Luthy, Donna Campbell, Daniel Luthy (Tammy), and Claudia McDonald (Steve) as well as fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
As the matriarch of the Luthy family, Marilyn will be fondly remembered as our “Mom Mom”. She was a gentle, quiet, loving person who taught us that family is the most important thing in life. Her love blessed many lives and she left behind many wonderful memories.
Marilyn also played an active role in family business, campaigning activities, and investment in local entrepreneurs. She was an accomplished gardener who delighted friends and neighbors with her delicious vegetables and beautiful flowers. To her friends, “Feetsie” will be remembered as a skilled card player, golfer, and traveling companion. She was also a very active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ where she was a lifelong member.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will take place at 12 pm on August 29, 2015 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Cambridge. A family burial will take place prior to the celebration. Pallbearers for the burial include: John F Luthy IV, Ian Campbell, Garrett Luthy, Mark Luthy, Cole Luthy, and Mitchell Luthy. She asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund at 5401 White Hall Road Cambridge, MD 21613.
