Marion Evelyn Burton Foxwell, 83, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Golden Hill on April 6, 1928 and was a daughter of the late John S. and Gertrude Ruark Burton.
She attended schools in Golden Hill and Cambridge. In her earlier years she was a telephone operator and later worked at Dorchester General Hospital in the dietary department. She enjoyed making flower arrangements, cooking, painting and drawing. She was a member of the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Post 91, the 29th Division Auxiliary and Spedden United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Richard D. Foxwell of Cambridge, three children Marie Booze and husband Greg of Cambridge, Pauline Dunn and husband Danny of Cambridge and Greg Foxwell and wife Cami of Cambridge, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister Blanche Hudson of Delaware, many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Foxwell is preceded in death by a son Burton R. Foxwell, a granddaughter Jennifer R. Dunn and nine brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Brian Harris, Brett Harris, Jeff Dunn, Bobby Booze, McKenna Dean, Shannon Slacum, Rob Drake and Corbin Insley.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Levin Spear and Pastor Pam Bockart officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
