Marjorie W. Creighton

Marjorie W. Creighton, 90 of Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. She was born at Buckneck Farm, near Cambridge, on December 25, 1919, and was a daughter of the late James T. Windsor, Sr. and the late Irene Willey Windsor.

Marjorie graduated from Cambridge High School, and later attended Nursing School at Cambridge Maryland Hospital. She was a lifelong member of Friendship United Methodist Church where she volunteered as organist for more than 30 years. Marjorie had been active in Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary where she served in many ways, especially as a volunteer at the Robin Hood Shop. She was married to R. Hance Creighton in September of 1939. He passed away on March 13, 1983. Marjorie was an accomplished seamstress, loved to read, loved nature, her pets, and her beautiful trees. She was gifted with the ability to be always cheerful, with a positive outlook, and was always able to see the best, to give a helping hand, and extend love wherever she was. Marjorie will be remembered for her happy and loving kind ways, and her cheerful manner by her many friends and family who loved her dearly. She had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge for the past three months where she passed away early Wednesday morning.

Survivors include a daughter Cynthia Gerber of Punta Gorda, Florida, one son Robert H. Creighton, Jr. of Vienna, four grandsons Robert Dean, Steve Dean, Chuck Creighton and Bill Creighton, nine great grandchildren Josh Creighton, Charles Creighton, Chala Creighton, James Creighton, Julia Creighton, Bob Dean, Nick Dean, Ben Dean and Noelle Dean and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother Sheldon Windsor and his wife Dorothy Lee Windsor of Aireys. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her grandson James Windsor Dean, and two brothers James T. Windsor, Jr. and William Palmer Windsor.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow at the East New Market Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.a. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Chuck Creighton, Bill Creighton, Robby Dean, Steve Dean, Josh Creighton and Chuck Creighton. Honorary bearers will be the caregivers who have taken care of her for the past three years Charlotte Willey, Carolyn Newcomb, Edie Finck, Sarah Sheets, Laura Johnson and Brenda Yeatman.
