Marjorie H. Lushin, 91, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Atria Assisted Living in Salisbury. She was born in Secretary on June 25, 1918 and was a daughter of the late Luke J. and Ola Wheatley Hackett.
Mrs. Lushin attended and graduated from East New Market High School. She attended and graduated from University of Maryland College Park and George Washington University, receiving multiple degrees.
Mrs. Lushin was a professor in the Washington, DC area. She married Raymond Lushin. He passed away in 1981. Mrs. Lushin was an avid ballroom dancer, traveled all over the world and attended social events at the White House with her husband. She lived in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD all of her working years and returned to the Eastern Shore five years ago.
She is survived by a niece Nancy Trader and husband John of Cambridge, two great nephews John Trader, Jr. and Jason R. Trader and a cousin Ruth Ann Watkins of Pocomoke City. Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by a sister Hazel H. Walker and a brother Thomas Hackett.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 27th at 11 a.m. at East New Market Cemetery with Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
