Martin W. McFadden, Jr., 66 of Cambridge, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 19, 2010. He was born in Baltimore on July 22, 1944, and was a son of the late Martin William and Margaret Ann Meredith McFadden, Sr.
He attended schools in Baltimore. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three tours in Vietnam and also served in Germany. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, with Palm. Mr. McFadden was Honorably Discharged on March 6, 1973. After his discharge from the service he worked as a hair stylist in Baltimore for several years. Mr. McFadden moved to Cambridge some years ago to take care of his grandfather. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge, and had worked in construction and had also worked on the water. On June 1, 1984 he was married to the former Celeste Foxwell. He has been disabled since 1998. Mr. McFadden was a member of Dorchester Post # 91 American Legion. He enjoyed traveling around Cambridge in his wheelchair and meeting and talking with people. He had been in failing health for the past five years when he passed away at his home on Sunday morning.
Survivors include his wife Celeste A. McFadden of Cambridge, one son Martin W. McFadden III and his wife Sarah McFadden of Chester, VA, three daughters Elizabeth McFadden of Prince George, VA, twin daughters Brandie Lee Robinson and her husband Jeffrey Robinson and Terri Jean Andrews and her husband George Andrews and one brother James E. McFadden of Brooklyn Park. He is also survived by six grandchildren Amber McFadden, Harley Hubbard, Eddie McFadden, III, Angel Ly Andrews, Jeffrey "J.J." Robinson, Jr. and Alexis Robinson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Bahr officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until noon on Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorchester Co. Humane Society, P.O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613.
