Mary Katheryn Hughes

Mary Katheryn Hughes, 77, of East New Market passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. She was born in Vienna on February 18, 1936 and was a daughter of the late Addison H. and Beatrice Richardson Murphy.
She attended schools in Vienna. On July 19, 1952, she married Guy A. Hughes, who passed away on December 1, 1995. Mrs. Hughes was employed at Airpax with over 30 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, photography and cooking.
She is survived by a daughter Jacqueline K. Smith of Talbot County, a son Anthony Wayne Hughes (Lori R. Bramble) of Hudson, two granddaughters Jennifer Willey (Chris) and Joni Moore, three great grandchildren Colby Morse, Cody Morse and Cole Willey, three brothers Gene Murphy of Linkwood, Kenneth Murphy of Fruitland and Robert N. "Jim" Murphy of Salisbury, a sister Claribel Edge of East New Market, a companion Ollie Layton of East New Market and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by two brothers Melvin Murphy and Donald Murphy and a sister Louise Hurley.
A private service will be held at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Hackerman-Patz House, 2401 West Belvedere Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
