Mary Garing (Garing) Jones
June 8, 1931 — October 18, 2017
Mary G. Jones, 86, departed this life much the way she lived, quietly and gently on October 18, 2017 under the care of Mallard Bay Nursing Home, with her family by her side.
Mary was born June 8, 1931. The daughter of the late James C. and Barbara W. Garing in Cambridge, MD, a true Eastern Shore resident her entire life, as dubbed by her three older siblings.
She graduated from Cambridge High School in the class of 1948. On October 1, 1951, she married Robert P. Jones. Mary held positions at various businesses in Cambridge prior to her marriage including Furniture Store, Henry’s Insurance Co. and C&P Telephone Co. After her marriage, Mary changed her career to spouse and mother at which she excelled, providing for her loved ones.
Mary is survived by four children Ellen Elben (James) of Denton, Kay Trice (Stanley) of Cambridge, Susan Todd (Thomas) of Galestown and Scott Jones (Tammy) of Salem. Also surviving are five grandchildren Aubrey Cutchin (Thomas), Robby Elben (Laurie), Rachel Harmon (Doug), David Trice (Morgan) and Evan Jones (Kayla), seven great grandchildren Damian Cutchin, Garvin Cutchin, Derowan Cutchin, Sarah Harmon, Allie Harmon, Lily Elben and Jensen Trice and numerous nieces and nephews. All beloved and loved by Mary.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, husband in 2009, her sister Virginia and brothers Clark, William (Bill), and Robert (Bob).
The family wishes to give thanks for her care to the staff of Mallard Bay, and her caregivers; Pam Airey, Angelique Anderson, Judea Smith, Megan Airey, Cathy Dean and Penny Fitzhugh who all played a role assisting during the five and a half years Mary lived home.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with Mr. James Elben officiating. Interment will follow at Green Bank Cemetery on Pig Neck Road, Cambridge. Family will receive friends from 12 to 2. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Care and Share Fund Inc., Santa Swim, P.O.
