Mary Louise Hughes, 69, of Linkwood passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 10, 2017. She was born in Cambridge October 24, 1947 and was a daughter of the late Floyd E. Ball and A. Louise Johnson (Dodson).
Mary attended schools in Cambridge. She had worked for Airpax at Plant 2 in Cambridge and retired after almost 50 years. She was known at Airpax as the “Hot Oil Flow Queen” and was proud of her years of service. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, spending time with family, playing cards, and was a loyal Ravens fan. She loved her animals, including her cat Rosie and dog Biscuit. Mary also had a deep admiration for “57” Chevy’s. She was a lifetime member of Choptank Memorial Post 7460 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a devoted wife for 30 years, as well as a loving sister, mother and grandmother.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Hughes of Linkwood, her daughter Teresa L. Forney (Trina) of Delmar, MD, her loving sister Bonnie Elzey of Cambridge, four special grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Mary is preceded in death by a son Rodney J. Webb, Jr.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. A private gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her honor to the Choptank Memorial Post 7460, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, 115 Sandy Hill Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
