Mary A. Noble, 71, of Fishing Creek passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Washington, DC on October 8, 1941 and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Annabelle Owens Cox.
In her earlier years, she was a talented dancer and skater. Mrs. Noble danced at USO shows and she held the record in speed skating at one time. She graduated from St. Patrick Academy in Washington, DC and attended and graduated from medical technical school. In 1959, she was the National Champion in speed roller skating. On August 6, 1960, she married Cephus Noble, Jr. Mrs. Noble enjoyed crocheting. She was a member of Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the United States Roller Skating Association.
She is survived by her husband Cephus Noble, Jr. of Fishing Creek, a son Cephus Noble, III of Cambridge, a son Joseph Noble of Westminster, five grandchildren Ashley, Joey, Michele, Cephus IV and Michael, a brother John Cox of Edgewater, MD, an aunt Lorraine Sullivan of Annapolis and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church, c/o Priscilla McGlaughlin, P.O.
