Mary J. Slacum, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at The Pines in Easton. She was born in Cambridge on January 25, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Guy and Bessie Tyler Burton.
Mrs. Slacum attended schools in Dorchester County. She worked at Rob Roy and then worked with her brother in law at Rainbow Cleaners until she retired.
She is survived by three children James Bryan of Cambridge, Bonnie Egleseder of Trappe and Talmadge Slacum of
Brownsville, Texas, four grandchildren James Bryan, Jr., Jacqueline Bryan, Jayne Bryan and Julie Slacum, five great grandchildren Brandon Bryan, Justin Bryan, Cherish Brooks, Chelcie Robbins and Megan Bryan and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Slacum is preceded in death by her husbands Sheldon Bryan and Darius Slacum, a son Steven Allen Slacum and seven brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Burial will be private. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant Day Adult Services, 2474 Cambridge Beltway, Cambridge, MD 21613.
