Mary C. (Smith) Willey

Mary C. Willey, 94, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at her daughter’s home. She was born in East New Market on August 12, 1921 and was a daughter of the late John and Lucy Neal Smith.

She graduated from East New Market High School, and went to nursing school, where she received her RN. She married James Eldridge Willey, who passed away on October 19, 1978. Mrs. Willey was employed and retired from Dorchester General Hospital. She enjoyed camping and boating. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the React Club.

Survived by a daughter Carol L. Brohawn and husband Raye of Cambridge, a stepson Donald J. Willey of Fruitland, three grandchildren Roxanne Snelling (Bob), Donna Buckley (Andy) and Darrell Brohawn, Jr. (Patti) and five step grandchildren Gene, Matt, GiGi, Marium, Tamara, great grandchildren Jen (Mike), Bridget (Travis), Jessica (MJ), Victoria (Eric) and Ray, great great grandchildren Kaila, Bailee and Londyn, two nieces Beverly Burton and Debbie Willey Sturgis, three nephews Jack Smith, Donnie Smith and Charles Willey. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Willey is preceded in death by a step granddaughter Katrina, two brothers Robert Smith and Herbert Smith, a niece Kathy Hachemeister and a nephew Duane Willey.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Brohawn, Jr., Ray Brohawn III, Andy Miller, Bob Snelling, Travis Jenkins and Mike Willey.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11 am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Steve Trice officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
