Mary Frances Duvall was born on January 7, 1942 in Selma, Alabama to Martha Simmons Foxwell and Daniel Henry Foxwell when LT Foxwell was stationed at Craig Air Force Base. She traveled with her family to other duty stations until 1947 when the family home was built in Cambridge, Maryland. Mary Frances stayed in Cambridge throughout her life. After graduation from Cambridge High School (CHS) class of 1960, she attended technical business school which led to her employment at Cambridge Wire Cloth in the office clerical department. After leaving this employment, she later worked part time at Burger King in Cambridge and Easton until her retirement at the age of 70.
Mary Frances was the widow of James Edward Duvall of Trappe with whom she shared many years of involvement at St. Mary’s Refuge of Sinners, the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department, and family activities. She is survived by their son, James Clinton Duvall of Rhodesdale, MD. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Talmadge Foxwell (Shirley) of Harleysville, PA, and her sister Margaret Foxwell Shipley (Frederick) of Houston, TX. Mary Frances was loved by her siblings but also by her nieces and nephew Diana Foxwell (Joel) of Hoboken, NJ, Lisa Tedesco (Brian) of Pennsburg, PA, Matthew Shipley (Amy) of Oakton, VA and Brooke Ludlow (Riley) of Houston, TX. Her life was enriched by two step-granddaughters and a step grandson Christine Brode of Cambridge,MD, Michael Graham (Deby) of Preston, MD and Danielle Hall (Eddie) of Hurlock, MD. In addition, she was a step-great-grandmother to seven boys.
Mary Frances Duvall loved her family, her cat and her home. Her laughter simply lit up her face. Mary Frances passed away on July 23 at 7:03 in the evening as a recent resident of Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland.
A funeral service will be officiated at the graveside in Dorchester Memorial Park beginning at approximately 12:30 PM on Friday, July 29 with 11:00 AM to noon set aside for a viewing by family members at Thomas Funeral Home PA located at 700 Locust Street. There will be a live video stream provided at Thomas Funeral Home’s website on Facebook for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in the name of Mary Frances Duvall to Baywater Animal Rescue at 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, Maryland 21613.
