Mary Lee (Robbins) Kincaid

August 26, 1922 — June 8, 2016

Mary Lee Kincaid, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cambridge on August 26, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Benjamin E. Robbins and Mary Gray Robbins.

She graduated from schools in Cambridge and after graduation she worked for Social Services until her marriage to Freddie Jones in 1947. After his death in 1950, she returned to work for Social Services until 1957, when she married Harold Kincaid.

She worked in retail, managing “Mary Ewell’s” and later working at “Richardson’s Dress Shop”. She modeled in fashion shows in Dorchester, Talbot, and Wicomico Counties. In her 60’s, she decided on a new adventure and went to Chesapeake College to become a Real Estate Agent. She worked for Tidewater Properties for over 20 years with her cousin Oliver Gore here in Cambridge and enjoyed every minute. She was socially & politically active belonging to many organizations that worked to benefit the community. She was an elected Judge of the Orphans Court for 16 years and was active in the local Democratic Club.

As a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church, she had been active in many levels of the church, from teaching Sunday School to administrative positions.

She is survived by her children Harriet Leap, Robin Herman (Bruce), Joe Kincaid (Maureen), Susie Caleca (Joe), six grandsons, one granddaughter and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Dorothy Shepherd and Ida Jane Baker (Russell) and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two husbands Frederick Jones and Harold Kincaid and a brother Benjamin E. Robbins, Jr. and a son-in law David Leap.

Pallbearers will be Darren Leap, Dirk Leap, Devon Leap, Ben Caleca, Brendan Kincaid, and Nathan Leap.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 12 pm at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. William Davis and Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:30 to 12:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or Open Bible Summer Program, 1619 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
