Maude W. Hurley, 97, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Federalsburg on November 10, 1912 and was a daughter of the late Lannie and Minnie Corkran Wroten.
Mrs. Hurley attended school in Federalsburg. On June 25, 1948 she married Granville W. Hurley. He passed away on July 9, 1977. She worked at the Choptank Inn as a cook and later at Airpax. She enjoyed horse racing, traveling, singing, playing bingo and being with her family and friends. She attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hurley was a member of the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by four daughters Delores Fitzhugh of Cambridge, Vicky Sheets and husband Jim of Evans, Colorado, Linda Wilson of Cambridge and Carolyn Baumgartner and husband Don of Salisbury, 9 grandchildren Lisa Adkins, Jeannie Biskach, Shawn Beavens, Josh Cook, Cassy Berner, Brent Wilson, Keith Wilson, Diana Wilson and Shelly Baumgartner, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hurley is preceded in death by brothers and sisters George Wroten, Calvin Wroten, Isabelle Noble and Bertie Meluney.
Pallbearers will be Keith Wilson, Brent Wilson, Don Baumgartner, Bernie Beavans, Franklin Biskach and Billy Adkins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery near Hurlock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
