Melanie Beth Greenhawk

Melanie Beth Greenhawk, born on January 13, 1958, in Wilmington, DE, to parents Alan Goslee and Carolyn Bailey Goslee, recently passed away. She was preceded in death by her father Alan Goslee; her adoptive father, Charles Echard, Sr. (2000); and her mother, Carolyn Echard (2003).

Beth graduated from Mardela High in 1976 and earned both her Bachelor of Science in education in 1980 and her master’s in special education from Salisbury University. She dedicated her career to teaching for Caroline County Public Schools from 1980 until her retirement, working 1st at Denton Elementary and finishing her career at Federalsburg Elementary schools. A wonderful special education teacher for 32 years, Beth had a unique gift for working with and loving students with special needs. On March 28, 1992 she married Edwin D. Greenhawk.

She is survived by her husband Edwin Greenhawk of East New Market, a daughter Leslie Podlaszewski and husband David of Sharptown, three grandchildren Connor, Brooke, and Collin, a brother Charlie Echard and Melissa of Mardela Springs, a mother in law Marie Greenhawk of East New Market, a sister in law Carolyn Hallowell and husband Johnny of East New Market, and several nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Matt Hallowell, John Hallowell, Chase Echard, Ryan Simpson, Collin Podlaszewski and Johnny Hallowell.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 1pm at Countryside Christian Church, 5333 Austin Road, Cambridge, MD. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
