Melvin A. Paul, Jr.

Melvin A. Paul, Jr., 83, of Golden Hill passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Autumn Lake Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge. He was born in Wilmington, DE on October 9, 1941 and was a son of the late Melvin A. Paul, Sr. and Frances Gootee Paul.

Mr. Paul graduated from South Dorchester High School class of 1959. On July 6, 1962 he married the former Janice Robinson who passed away on October 17, 2014. He owned and operated Paul’s Pride Seafood with his son Dwane. He loved watching the New York Yankee, NASCAR and doing woodwork. 

He is survived by a son Dwane Paul and wife Cindy of Golden Hill, two grandsons Aaron Paul and wife Katie of Taylors Island and Cody Paul and wife Mary Jo of Woolford, three great grandchildren Logan and Charlie Paul and Amberlynn Elzey and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Paul is preceded in death by a sister Ramona Paul. 

Pallbearers will be Dwane Paul, Aaron Paul, Cody Paul, Leroy Bell, Wayne Ashton, Roger Morris, and Chuck Collison. Honorary pallbearers will be TJ Abbott and Michael Gattis.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 12pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jayson Bleyer officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dorchester Seafood Heritage Assoc., c/o Bobby Whaples, 5209 Walnut Landing Road, Vienna, MD 21869.
