Merritt J. "Jim" Pritchett, Jr

Merritt J. "Jim" Pritchett, Jr., 73, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Cambridge on April 23, 1940 and was a son of the late Merritt J. Pritchett, Sr. and Wilamina Woodland Pritchett.

He attended schools in Dorchester County. Jim was married to the former Carolyn Payne, who passed away on March 16, 2013. Most of his life, Jim was a waterman, but he also had several bars and restaurants in Dorchester County.

Jim is survived by two sons Walt Pritchett and wife Denise of Cambridge and Thomas Jay Pritchett of Bethany Beach, DE, a daughter Donna Lee Gray and husband Wylie Gray, Jr., several grandchildren, stepchildren Joyce Wheatley, Linda Mooney and husband Kendall, Alice "Dixie" Mooney, Millie Wheatley and partner Debbie Towers, Sam Wheatley and wife Kathy and James Wheatley and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, and his wife Jim is preceded in death by three sisters Alice, Ruth and Shirley.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 4:30 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 4:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
