Michael R. Jones

Michael R. Jones, 57, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on January 3, 1957 and was a son of Donald K. Jones, Sr. and the late Carolyn Vickers Jones.

Mike graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1975. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mike worked in the family business at Jones Implement, which started in 1933, and was later named Atlantic Tractor. Mike was third generation in the family business. On February 6, 1987, he married the former Julie Thomas. He enjoyed fishing, boating, playing lacrosse into his fifties, reading military history and his black Labs. Mike was a past member of the South Dorchester Jaycees. He was a great supporter of the Dorchester Youth Lacrosse League.

He is survived by his wife Julie T. Jones of Cambridge, two children Jenna Jones of St. Paul, MN and M. Ryan Jones of College Park, his father Donald K. Jones and wife Sybil of Cambridge, a sister Debbie Robbins of Cambridge, two brothers A. Dennis Jones and wife Lou of East New Market and Donald K. Jones, Jr. and wife Trudi of Church Creek and several nieces and nephews. Mike is also survived by his Labs Maddie and Lion. Besides his mother, Mike is preceded in death by a brother in law Dickie Robbins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 12 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ with Pastor Dale Krotee officiating. Interment will be private.
