Michael R. Simmons

Michael R. Simmons, 69, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on November 8, 1954 and was a son of the late William and Beverly Meland Johnson.

Mike attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mike was married to the former Mary Brummett, who passed away on December 16, 2014. He was a carpenter for several local companies in Cambridge. Mike enjoyed working on classic car, playing baseball and softball. 

He is survived by son Pete Brummett (Kassie) and Tonya Gorrell (Chad), grandchildren Tyler Brummett (Haylee), Hailey Mowbray (Josh), Carrie Brummett, Shana Queen, I'Leah Queen, Patrice Queen, great grandchildren Asher Brummett, Pyper Mowbray, Ryan Reynolds and soon to be great grandson Zander Brummett, Tatum and Luke. Besides his parents and his wife, Mike is preceded in death by a brother David Johnson and a great grandson Michael Brummett. 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 2pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
