Mildred Harrison Lewis, 100, of Cambridge departed this life on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born on August 5, 1923 in Talbot County, the daughter of the late Samuel F. Harrison and Mary Alice Patchett Harrison. She married Ralph C. Lewis in 1944 and resided in Bucktown until his death in 1987. She has resided in Cambridge since 1991.
Mrs. Lewis graduated from Easton High School class of 1940 and later attended Chesapeake College and UMBC. For most of her adult life she was a legal secretary. She was a member of Bucktown United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years, Past Matron of Chapter #50, Order of the Eastern Star, an active member of the Dorchester General Hospital for many years, volunteering mostly at the Robin Hood Shop and volunteered for Hospice for twelve years.
She is survived by her son Ralph C. Lewis, Jr. and wife Jennifer, four grandchildren Wendy L. Weber (Bert), Amy L. Weber (Chris), Joshua D. Lewis (Jess) and Jed C. Lewis (Jessica), nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her son David Harrison Lewis, who passed away in 2013 and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Josh Lewis, Jed Lewis, Gavin Weber, Kellen Hurley, Freddie Lewis, Amy Weber, Wendy Weber and Lauren Blades.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11am at Bucktown Churchyard with Rev. Shelley McCollister and Rev. Tish Sproson officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Bucktown Cemetery Fund, c/o Wendy Weber 4159 Bestpitch Ferry Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
