Mildred T. Peterson

April 29, 1932 — November 10, 2008

Mildred T. Peterson, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008 at her home. She was born on April 29, 1922 in Cambridge and was a daughter of the late George W. and Lorena Taylor.

Mrs. Peterson attended schools in Dorchester County. On September 30, 1941 she married Ralph C. Peterson. He passed away on May 4, 1978. She retired in 1996 from Airpax after 38 years of service. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church of Aireys having been active as a children's Sunday School teacher and director of the children's choir in her earlier years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who dearly loved being with her family. She loved everyone being together for holiday dinners at her home. She loved her farm life and enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers.

She is survived by a son Wayne R. Peterson and his wife Karen of Cambridge, a daughter Brenda P. Slacum and her husband Terry of Cambridge, two granddaughters Allison R. Shockley and husband Leon and her great grandson Tyler of Salisbury and Angela Slacum and Mickey Ausmussen and her great granddaughter Ellie of East New Market, a grandson Eric Peterson and fiancAC.e Carol Lee Russ of Cambridge, a sister Phyllis Marshall and husband Levin of Cambridge, a brother Leroy Taylor and wife Phyllis of Pocomoke City, a special niece Linda Johnson and husband Kenny and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Peterson is preceded in death by two brothers Fleetwood Taylor and Emerson Taylor and four sisters Beulah Willey, Sarah Rumbley, Alice Smith and Helen Cox.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, c/o Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613, Bucktown United Methodist Church, c/o Toby Adams, 5005 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Linkwood Salem Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 66, Linkwood, MD 21835. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
