Morris W. Bloodsworth

Morris W. Bloodsworth, 82 of Cambridge, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 2, 2009. He was born at Bishops Head on September 5, 1926, and was a son of the late Marcie W. and Ruby Powley Bloodsworth.

He attended schools at Bishops Head. On January 13, 1974 he was married to the former Malinda Ruark. As a young man he worked on the water and later worked with Paul Jones building boats. Mr. Bloodsworth later attended and graduated from Lincoln Tech in 1963. He then worked at Tony Handley's Automotive from 1964 until 1968. Mr. Bloodsworth then operated Morris Automatic Transmission Service in Cambridge from 1968 until he retired in 1988. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, crabbing and being on the water. He had been in failing since November when he passed away on Sunday morning.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years Malinda R. Bloodsworth of Cambridge, one uncle Reginald Powley of Wingate and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. and the Rev. Pardee Bramble officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Mary Todd, General Delivery, Crocheron, Maryland 21627, or to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Maryland 21802. Pallbearers will be Earl Todd, William "Snooks" Windsor, George L. Murphy, Allan Keene, Reginald Todd and Edwin Todd.
