Nancy J. Haley, 94 of Cambridge, passed away at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge on March 2, 2009. She was born in Cambridge on March 1, 1915, and was a daughter of the late Roy David and Juanita Parks James
She attended schools in Cambridge, and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1932. Some years ago she had worked for the Phillips Packing Co. as a secretary to Albanus Phillips. On October 8, 1937 she was married to Lawrence W. Haley. Mr. Haley passed away on March 7, 1972. Mrs. Haley was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge and was a Past President of Zion's Crescent Class. For many years she was well known in the area as a pianist and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grand daughter. Mrs. Haley was also a lifetime member of Dorchester Post # 91 American Legion Auxiliary and Rebecca Assembly of Maryland. She had been a patient at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge for the past week where she passed away on Monday afternoon.
Survivors include a daughter Suzanne H. Seabrease and her husband Jack T. Seabrease of Cambridge, two grandsons Danny Seabrease and Timmy Seabrease and his wife Laura Seabrease, both of Cambridge, four great granddaughters Haley Seabrease, Brooke Seabrease, Christina Seabrease and Courtney Seabrease, one great great granddaughter Alexus Hackley, one niece Betty Arvin of Selbyville, one nephew John Dale Parks of Parksley, VA and several cousins. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death a sister Helen J. Overton and a brother Leon James.
A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Dale L. Vroman and Gloria Dill officiating. Interment will follow at the Cambridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grant A Wish Foundation, P.O. Box 21211, Baltimore , Maryland, 21228. Pallbearers will be Roger Brake, Richard Todd, Bob Dill, Richard Woolfolk, John Dale Parks and Craig Elzey.
