Nancy R. Robbins, 76 of Crapo passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Hoopersville on October 27, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Horace and Sue Ruark Ruark.
Mrs. Robbins attended schools in Hoopers Island. On June 7, 1953 she married Corbett B. Robbins, Jr. He passed away on April 18, 2007. She worked at numerous crab houses, Western Publishing Company where she was a master printer and later she was owner/operator of P.J. Seafood. She was a champion oyster shucker. She also enjoyed search word puzzles and painting ceramics. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, where her home was always decorated for the season. Mrs. Robbins was a lifetime member of Bounds United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son Woodrow F. "Woody" Robbins of Trappe, a daughter Cindy L. Jones and husband Paul Jones of East New Market, three grandsons Scott Jones and wife Jenny of Fishing Creek, D.J. Robbins of Las Vegas and Corbett Robbins of Trappe, a grand daughter Lisa Robbins Stanley and husband Wayne of Crapo, great granddaughter Lainey Scott Jones and a great grandson Caden Scott Jones, a brother Donald Ruark of Cambridge, two sisters Betty Middleton of North Carolina and Karen Ruark of Hoopersville, a sister in law Louella Ruark of Hoopersville, a special niece Lana Wilde of Crapo and a special sister in law Alma Creighton of Crapo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Robbins is preceded in death by a daughter in law Dolores Robbins, a granddaughter Sophia Robbins, two sisters Gertrude Brittingham and Emily Ruark, three brothers Horace Ruark, Jr., Freddie Ruark and Ralph Ruark.
Pallbearers will be Matt Ross, Brandon Ross, Jeff Robbins, Harold Phillips, Mike Willey and Ethan Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Mills, David Wilde, George Wroten, Don Moore, Wayne Stanley and Joe Truitt.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at noon at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Joseph J. Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Sandy Island Cemetery.
