Nancy Jane Maxey Wieciech, 90, of White Marsh and Cambridge, MD passed away on December 1, 2019. Jane was born on September 28, 1929 in Princeton, WV, the oldest of the six children born to Elizabeth and Clyde Maxey. She was named after Clyde’s mother and took her role as oldest very seriously. She graduated from Spanishburg High School in 1946 as Co-Valedictorian of her class. She was the first of the six Maxey children to graduate with a degree from Concord College with a BS in Biology and Physical Science. She graduated from West Virginia University with an MA in Education.
She taught school in West Virginia from 1949 to 1956, before moving to Maryland. She continued teaching from 1956 to 1964 in Anne Arundel and Baltimore School systems.
She married Theodore Wieciech in 1963 and became a stay-at-home mom for many years. Upon Ted’s retirement, she returned to teaching Biology until her retirement.
Jane is predeceased by her husband, Ted, her favorite son-in-law, Bill, two sisters and a brother.
She is survived by her son and favorite daughter-in-law, Paul and Tina Wieciech of Cambridge, MD; her daughter, Michelle Price of Fleming Island, FL; her six grandchildren: Chelsea and Audrey Price, Karen (Kerry) Kingsley, Katie Wieciech, and Billy and Josh Peterson, six great-grandchildren, and two granddogs, Willow Nope and Goose.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 2 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Jayson Bleyer officiating. Interment will be private in Baltimore. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Salisbury Zoo or charity of your choice.
