Norma H. Parker, 95, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at her nieces' home in Salisbury. She was born in Cambridge on August 15, 1919 to the late William O. and Anna B. Bradley Hurley.
On May 9, 1937 she married Arthur S. Parker, who passed away on December 19, 2010. Mrs. Parker was the oldest living member of the Grace United Methodist Church, where she had attended for more than 75 years. Norma loved the Lord and her church family. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her home and entertaining her family and friends.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her son Dr. Arthur S. Parker, Jr. of Bel Air, a niece Janice Pritchett and husband Ray of Salisbury, who have been taking care of her for the past year, her caregivers Glenda Garrison, Joyce Hogan and her great niece Mandy and numerous other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by three sisters Lois H. Nickerson, Janice Truitt and Billie Anne Smith.
Pallbearers will be Brooks W. Parker, Jr., George R. Doty, Eric Doty, Jason Doty, Donald Nickerson and Wesley Truitt.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with Rev. Jay Hurley officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race St., Cambridge, MD 21613, Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613 or Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
