Olive P. Horner

Olive P. Horner, 95, of Chestertown formerly of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Chester River Manor. She was born on May 16, 1918 in Mt. Vernon to the late Roy Edward Larmore and Annie McGrath Larmore.

Mrs. Horner attended schools in Princess Anne and graduated from Washington High School. At the age of five her father passed away. So her mother remarried Herman Bloodsworth who helped raised her. On October 5, 1940 she married George Horner, who passed away on August 13, 1994. Mrs. Horner received her LPN from Cambridge Maryland Hospital. She was employed for 29 years at Glasgow Nursing Home. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all she new. Mrs. Horner was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1938. She was active in United Methodist Women and Gleaners Class. Mrs. Horner helped at soup day and other volunteer activities at the church.

She is survived by a sister Juanita Hurley and husband Buddy of Chestertown, a granddaughter Kimberly Towle and husband Donnie of Thief River Falls, MN, one great grandson Brady Larson, a special niece Connie Gsell and husband David and other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Horner was preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Larson, a sister Wanda Lee Willing and a brother John Edward Larmore.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Hurley, Tony Hurley, David Gsell, Tommy Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be William A. Hurley, Robert Cannon, Robert Lloyd and Randall Bradshaw.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Herbert Cain officiating. Family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 205 Maryland Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
