P. Calvin Malkus

P. Calvin Malkus, 90, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born in Cambridge on November 8, 1923 and was a son of the late Milton M. Malkus, Sr. and Nanette Luthy Malkus.

Mr. Malkus graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1940. On July 3, 1943, he married the former Reita Willey, who passed away on July 19, 2008. Mr. Malkus had been a farmer his entire life and was owner/operator of Blackwater Farms and retired in December of 1988. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Tidewater Farm Club, Dorchester Farm Bureau and the Soil Conservation of Dorchester County.

He is survived by a son William "Bill" Malkus and wife Terry of Cambridge, three daughters Carole Segar and husband Roger of Cambridge, Kathy Kelly and husband Rick of Cambridge and Charlotte Hanson and husband Chuck of Cambridge, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a sister Nancy Spicer and husband Bill of Church Creek, two brothers Milton M. Malkus, Jr. of Cambridge and Theodore Malkus of Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Malkus is preceded in death by a sister Virginia Asmussen and a brother Kenneth Malkus.

Pallbearers will be Dr. William Bair, Dennis Elzey, Jason Segar, Lee Lyons, Brent Malkus, and Jack Roe. Honorary pallbearer will be Garrett Roe and Kenny Collins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ with Rev. Dale Krotee officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friend from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 Whitehall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
