Patricia Ann Marshall Hurst, 83, of Secretary passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at her home. She was born in Easton on June 11, 1941 and was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Coulbourn Marshall.
Mrs. Hurst graduated from St. Michaels High School class of 1959. She was married to Victor E. “Sonny” Hurst, Jr. who passed away on November 5, 2015. Mrs. Hurst worked at Western Publishing, Skipjack and later at The Hurlock Meadows Senior Apartments as manager. She enjoyed crafts, baking, traveling and she loved helping to put the boxes together for Operation Christmas Child Shoe boxes and for the local veterans.
She is survived by a daughter Tina Basel of Secretary, a son James Edmund Hurst ( Joy) of Hurlock, two stepsons John F. Hurst, Victor E. Hurst III, both of Georgia, a step daughter Kaynelle H. Gazafy (Matt) of Georgia, nine grandchildren, Brandi Ward (Brennan), Jenni Gazafy, Austin Basel (Kelsey), Arielle Marek, Arianna Basel, Jacob Hurst, Zachary Hurst (Katelyn), Faith Hurst and Gabriella Hurst; ten great-grandchildren, Aron Ward, Graci Brack, Clay and Jace Hurst, Jude, Marah, Indie and Lavender Basel, Brooks and Ila Marek. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hurst is preceded in death by a sister Mary Margaret Marshall.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 12pm at Secretary Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral cost.
