Patricia "Patty" L. (Jenkins) Fisher

Patricia “Patty” Louise Fisher, 82, of Nanticoke passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Sunday, June 13, 2021. Born on June 30, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Stirling Jenkins and Marion Elizabeth Hamilton Jenkins.

Patty attended Laurel High School, in Delaware and following graduation enrolled in nursing school. She became a Registered Nurse and worked at several local Salisbury, MD doctor’s offices before becoming an operating room nurse at Peninsula General Hospital. She spent many hours with the doctors and nurses in the OR and moved on to managing the scheduling for all the operating rooms at PGH before her retirement.

While working full time as an OR Nurse, she also helped Ronny, her husband of 49 years, with the operations of Thurman Farms in Nanticoke, MD. Whether she was driving a tractor, feeding the animals or tending the tens of thousands of chickens, she embraced the farming lifestyle, and still found time to raise two children, a bull name Pete and a menagerie of cows, pigs, chickens, dogs and cats that all called Thurman Farms their home. Especially close to her heart were Cardinals and Dachshunds; both of which could be found on almost every piece of clothing that she wore.

Patty is survived by a son, Ronald T. Fisher, Jr. and his wife Patricia A. Huber of Charlottesville, VA; a daughter, Susan L. Crouse and her husband James of Quantico, MD; a brother Scott Jenkins and his wife Sandra of Elkton, MD, two granddaughters, Lauren E. Hindman and her husband Ben and Natalie Ann Crouse; three great granddaughters Marley Grace Hindman, Rowen Elizabeth Hindman, and Sunny Louise Crouse; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patty is preceded in death by her husband, Ronny; a brother in law Wilson “Sonny” Woodrow Fisher, Jr. and a sister in law Patricia Ann Fisher.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 1 pm at Nanticoke United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Turner Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Westside Volunteer Fire Department, 21045 Nanticoke Rd., Bivalve, MD 21814. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
