Peggy J. Gray

Peggy J. Gray, 84, of Elliott Island, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Pines in Easton. She was born on Elliott Island on December 8, 1929 and was a daughter of the late Claude and Anna Gray Dayton.

She attended schools on Elliott Island. On June 1, 1956 she married Gilbert D. Gray, who passed away on August 21, 1986. Mrs. Gray at one time was employed at the Martinek Button Factory on Elliott Island. She enjoyed listening to country music, animals and being with her family, especially her granddaughters. She was a member of Elliott Island United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Sherry Hartman and husband David of Arnold, MD, two granddaughters Heather Hartman of Canada and Ashley Hartman of Baltimore, three sisters Marian Travers of Vienna, Freida Newcomb of Cambridge and Joan Insley of Elliott Island and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Gray is preceded in death by a sister Lois Foxwell.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. James C. Bongard officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
