Peggy W. Jackson, 92, of East New Market passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Cambridge on August 8, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Courtney Burton.
Mrs. Jackson attended schools in Cambridge. On May 20, 1944, she married Edward C. Jackson who passed away on June 19, 2004. She had worked at Airpax. Mrs. Jackson loved to play games and cards and did so at any opportunity. She was also a Baltimore Orioles fan. At one time, she was on a bowling league and she volunteered at the Lutheran Mission and Pleasant Day Adult Day Care. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, AARP, and an honorary member of the Dorchester Swingers Square Dance Club.
She is survived by a daughter Nancy L. Jackson of East New Market, a son Daniel E. Jackson and wife Margaret of Secretary, granddaughter Kirstin M. Jackson, a sister in law Laura Thompson and many special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by two brothers Joseph Burton and Walter Burton, Jr. and a sister Walnea Drake.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Brian Wheatley officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O.
